The Way Nature Speaks

In this Gallery space, I wanted to express to the viewer each artist’s perception of nature and how it impacts their lives. This show contains many different mediums, such as paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, multi-media, and a touch of my own installation. I have called this show “The Way Nature Speaks” because I want the viewer to listen and interpret what the artists are saying about nature through their art.

Curators Statement

In the past year, I have begun to analyze my art and I realized through this process, that Nature inspires most of my art. When I made this realization, I started to notice how many other artists around me also use nature as an inspiration. I decided to curate a show with the theme of nature because I specifically wanted to know how other artists viewed nature in relation to their selves, the world, and their art. I discovered that many of their answers, located in the bio booklet, are similar to my own.

I was greatly inspired by an installation that I saw at the New Museum in New York City last semester. This Installation, created by Petrit Halilaj, had an overwhelming sense of nature within the boundaries of white walls. I wanted to create something similar, but with a variety of different artworks.

This gallery has many objects commonly found in nature. I have removed them and placed them in a gallery setting because they should be appreciated for their raw beauty. I believe that many aspects of nature go undetected and undervalued, but through “the Way nature speaks,” I have made These items Recognized and regarded. This show will strike a conversation of the way others view nature and how nature speaks to them.
